It is the policy of the Seattle School Board to prohibit the use of any existing race or ethnic group, the stereotype of any existing race or ethnic group, and the personification of any existing race or ethnic group as a mascot, nickname, or symbol for a school, school team, or school activity.  All mascots, nicknames, or symbols adopted for use by secondary schools subsequent to the adoption of this policy shall be submitted to the Superintendent for final approval.
